Hopefully it’s not too cold where you’re living right now to enjoy a vegan peach smoothie or two! Heck even if it is technically too cold, you can still enjoy an icy cool smoothie, that’s the magic of indoor heating right.
600: The Magic Number
The exact ratios for each ingredient doesn’t matter. More of fruit A here, less of fruit B there, won’t hurt. Just make sure you don’t use less than 1/2 cup of water otherwise the blender might have trouble blending the other ingredients (it’s called cavitation). Oh, and whatever mix of fruits and liquids I choose, I always make sure I end up with 600 g worth of ingredients. That gets you a smoothie that fills up to the brim every time.
Vitamix and Blendtec are the gold standard of home blenders, so you can’t go wrong with either of those. I personally use a Blendtec; it’s a little less flashy than a Vitamix, but also less expensive. I’ve compared it against my parents’ Vitamix, and the performance feels the same.
For smoothies, I use Blendtec’s Twister Jar because it’s the perfect size for a single serving smoothie and I usually only make one at a time. Smoothies are so fast and the cleanup is so easy I don’t see any reason not to make them fresh every time.
For each of the drinks below, the instructions are the same. Just throw everything into the blender, order doesn’t matter, and blend on high speed for about a minute. A lot of blenders come with a Smoothie mode, so use that if you can.
All of these vegan peach smoothie recipes double really easily, of course! But I don’t know if you’ll want to go beyond doubling these because it probably won’t fit in your blender.
Triple Tropics Smoothie
- 1/2 frozen peach, 100 g
- 1 nectarine, halved, 100 g
- 1 mango, 300 g
- 1/2 cup cold water, 125 mL
I used yellow peaches and nectarines in this smoothie, which are less sweet and more tart than white peaches. You can use white too, but it’s gonna be hellaaa sweet. You might want to sub out half of the mango for more water or ice cubes.
Plum Peach Smoothie
- 2 golden plums, 90 g
- 1 white peach, 260 g
- 3/4 cup frozen sliced zucchini, 100 g
- 1/2 cup water, 125 mL
I know what you’re thinking, why the fuck is this girl putting vegetables into her drinks. But that zucchini just disappears into the smoothie, like you can’t taste it at all. And it’s a great way to diversify your veggie intake. It does dull the colour a bit so if that’s important to you, replace the zucchini with some ice cubes.
Before you ask, yes, it did pass my stringent boyfriend test. Kevin had no idea he was drinking pureed zucchinis. 😈
Mango Peach Slushie
- 1 1/2 cup frozen mango chunks, 200 g
- 1 cup frozen peach chunks, 150 g
- 1 cup cold water, 250 mL
This one is icier than the others, because all the fruit is frozen, and it will have a gloopy, thick consistency. But don’t get me wrong, it’s still got a velvety smooth texture. I personally prefer this smoother, creamier version of a slushie but my boyfriend hates it. So if you’re anything like him, sub some of the fruit and water for ice cubes to enjoy that “crunch” from the ice crystals.
